Tadpoles in the Pool

When we uncovered our pool this year we found hundreds and hundreds of tadpoles, a couple of toads, a few tree frogs, many slugs and 2 snakes.  We managed to rescue them all and found lots of families willing to take some of the tadpoles off our hands home to watch change into frogs or toads.  We still have about 300 tadpoles and brought them into the house to watch.  They're so cute!!  Especially their little mouths.

the few hundred tadpoles we have left

Here is one 5 days later....cute little froglet...about every hour we find 10 more new froglets climbing the sides.  They grow their arms fast!

These have almost finished absorbing their tails.

We tried to release some of them into our koi pond....aren't they cute?...but a fish ate one so we scooped them back up and plan to release them in the creek instead where there are less big fish.

A few of our tadpoles developed air bubbles in their stomach area.  This one was the worse.  We read that in order to fix it we needed to scoop it up on a spoon with only a little water and it will "burp" the air out.  We've been doing it for the past few days and the bubble is about half the size now.  Seems to be working.

update:  We made it down to the creek to release our little froglets.
