Solar Art
Here at our house we love to burn things (not live things) with magnifying glasses and the sun’s power. In the past we’ve popped popcorn, roasted marshmallows, melted plastic army men and burned holes into water balloons. Today, we decided to try our hand at art. We thought we might could burn a simple picture into wood suing the magnifying glass. Didn’t know if it would work but IT DID!!! Yay!!!!!!
It’s so simple to do...first, get a piece of wood and move the magnifying glass around until you get a pin point spot. I couldn’t find my glass magnifying glass and so we used the plastic ones we got at Target and they worked just fine.

as the wood starts smoldering...just start drawing...simple!

Ta Da...a tree!!!

Ethan wasn’t into making art today, he was more motivated in roasting mini marshmallows and so he built a magnifying glass fire for that. :)

FIRE....woo-hoo!

I googled around and found a man who actually does this for a job. Who knew? So cool! He does signs, jewelry and all sorts of other cool solar art. I really love his pendants. That’s going to be my next project! Love it!
